The three units we will study this year are:

1.) Balance and Motion

We live in a dynamic world where everything is in motion, or so it seems. But not everything is moving the same way. Some things move from one place to another. Other things go around and around in a rotational motion. Still other things are stationary, stable for a time, balanced on a thin line between stop and go. These are the global phenomena that students experience in this unit, Balance and Motion. Students will observe, investigate, and share their findings with the class.

2.) Changes
Changes are all around us! Students explore physical properties and chemical reactions in this physical science unit. The Teacher will guide students through investigations to help them understand the properties of solids, liquids, and gases. Students mix and separate each of the states of matter, and gain early insight as to how chemicals react.

3.) Insects
This unit provides experiences that heighten students' awareness of the diversity of animal forms. They come to know firsthand the life sequences of insects. In each investigation an insect is introduced, and students observe the structures and behaviors, discuss their findings, and ask questions. Students observe life cycles of insects and compare the stages of metamorphosis exhibited by each species.
