Welcome Letter

September

Dear Parents,

It has been a wonderful start to a new school year at Wicoff!  I hope your children have come home with smiles on their faces and exciting stories to share about their first few days of school.

Our Wicoff “family” continues to grow.  Presently our student population is 451 students and growing.  One focus of the guidance program is to help new students adjust to their school environment.  I will be meeting with new students at the end of September to see how they are doing.  Please feel free to call me if you believe your child is having difficulty with this transition.

The counseling program at Wicoff is available to all students.  I will be working in every classroom teaching peacemaking and conflict resolution skills, and implementing lessons which highlight our monthly character themes.  The character theme for the months of September is Teamwork.  I will also be meeting with children in groups and on an individual basis.  In addition, I am here to help students who are facing particular difficulties.  Family disruptions such as an illness, death or divorce may affect children at school.  If your family is experiencing anything out of the ordinary, please let me know.

Another focus of the counseling program is to link the home and school.  If you have a particular concern about your child, I welcome the opportunity to speak with you to discuss the matter. In addition, Each month I will be writing a brief “blurb” in the Fox Newsletter, with pertinent information about the guidance department.

I look forward to working with you throughout the year to help your children succeed.  It is important to remember that when school personnel and parents work together, it is a winning combination for children!

Sincerely,

Ellen Incollingo,
School Counselor
