2017 Welcome Letter

Summer 2017

Dear Students,

Hello!  My name is Mr. Grabell and I’ll be your 3rd grade teacher.  I hope you have been having a wonderful summer.  My summer was busy, but I had lots of fun too.  I wrote math materials for Scholastic, studied astronomy at the McDonald Observatory in Texas, and had time to visit my sons and their families in Pittsburgh and Cincinnati.  I made sure I had plenty of time for reading and hiking.

Students sometimes wonder what supplies they should bring to school.  Our classroom already has almost everything we need.  It is not necessary for you to buy all the items on the 3rd grade supply list.  I would like you to bring in a sturdy, two pocket folder for carrying papers between school and home, a small pencil box for your own supplies, two (not three) marble notebooks, a pair of scissors, and a box of tissues for the classroom. Please also bring in ear buds or headphones in a ziploc bag, labeled with your name. Of course, if you have your own markers, colored pencils, etc. that you like to use, you are welcome to bring them to school.

I am really looking forward to having you in my class this year! I have many exciting activities planned for the coming school year.  In addition, this year marks the 100th anniversary of Dutch Neck School, and special activities are being planned.  On the first day of school, please bring in a healthy snack and a picture of yourself for a project I have planned.  I will try to call you and your parents a week or two before school starts.  I know we are going to have a great year!

                                             Sincerely,

                                             Mr.Grabell
