Mrs. MacPhie

Dear Families

I am so excited to be working with you and your child this upcoming school year!  Together we will bring out qualities to help your child become a successful learner both in school and outside of school.

There are a few things I would like to remind you of...

Your child knows that he/she needs to read 20 minutes everyday, record it in their Reading Log (if you need extra copies, please go to the Extra Copies link on the left of my page), and you are to sign it when the log is filled.  A helpful reminder from you, is appreciated. Whether your child reads out loud to you, or to themselves, it is important to stress the value of reading outside the school.

Writing and reading go hand-in-hand. Your child needs to understand that if you can read it, you can write it also! I ask that your child write as much as they can at home as they do at school. Help them feel comfortable with writing about his/her day, a feeling that he/she experienced, or an upcoming event. Having your support at home will help your child be confident in school also.

The knowledge of math facts is important! Whether it is addition, subtraction, and/or multiplication...the faster your child can practice and know math facts, the faster they will succeed. You can easily go over facts by using flashcards or memory during meals, at the bus stop, in the car, or before bedtime.

On the left of my website you will find a few links.  There are a few external links your child can access for further practice.  There is an "Extra Copies" link, which the most frequently used resources will be under so you can access it in case your child needs an extra copy.

Please feel free to contact me via email any time with questions or concerns.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Michelle MacPhie
