Welcome to Second Grade
Summer 2015

Dear Second Graders,

Hello and welcome to Second grade!  I am looking forward to what I know will be a wonderful school year and I am excited that you will be in my class in September.  As a second grader, you will have many new and exciting responsibilities.  Be sure that you are ready to conquer these new adventures each day by getting a good night’s rest.  Please remember to eat a healthy breakfast each morning and bring a healthy snack everyday.

I hope you are enjoying your summer vacation.  I have had a very busy summer so far.  I spent most of the summer visiting my family in Texas.  We had a fantastic time together.  It was extremely hot, but I loved all the sunshine.  I am also enjoying the beach, gardening, reading and exercising.  I am looking forward to sharing with you all about my summer.  I am excited to hear about your summer and meet all of you.

Throughout the summer, wherever I am, I make sure I have a really great book to read.  I always try to read lots and lots of books over the summer.  I love to read!  I hope you all have been reading this summer.  I would love for you to share with me the interesting and fun books you have read too!

In order to prepare for the new school year, please let your parents know that a list of school supplies for second grade is posted on the district web page.  Please write your name on all your supplies with a permanent marker and bring them with you on the first day of school.

In addition to the supply list, I would like each of you to please bring in with you on the first day of school:

1 pack of 12 colored pencils
1 pack of thin markers
1 hand sanitizer (8fl oz)
I will have a homework folder for you at school. In this folder you will put your homework on one side and important notices for your parents on the other.  You will also use this folder to put any notes your parents may have for me.  The folder will come to school and go home everyday and will be our best link to communication with your parents.  Also, please make sure the binder is very thin, (one half inch) since it takes up a lot  of room in our little desks.  Thank you.

Our first day of school will be Wednesday, September 2, 2015.  This is a full day.  Please remember that you will need to bring or buy a lunch and bring a healthy snack to school with you on the first day.  Helpers will tell you where to go when you arrive.  All second graders will meet in one spot on the first day and I will come to meet you and take you to our room.

Please remember to bring your smiles also!!  Enjoy the rest of your vacation, and I know we will have a wonderful year of learning together.

Warmly,
Ms. Campbell
