Welcome, Second Graders!

Dear Second Graders,

Welcome to Room 210! My name is Mrs. Fitzgerald and I am very excited to be your second-grade teacher. I have been busy getting ready for our year together. I hope you are having a terrific summer and are looking forward to coming back to school in September. As you get ready for second grade you will find a list of supplies that you will need on the front page of the TC 2nd Grade Teachers' web page. Please click on "Town Center Second Grade Supply List". In addition to those items you will also need:

-- One 8 ounce container of hand sanitizer
--One pack of colored pencils
--1 pair of earbuds (to be used with the ipads/ these can be purchased at the dollar store); please bring to school in a ziplock bag with name
--1 (1 inch ) 3 ring binder--clear view front pocket

Please note that some supplies such as the glue sticks, markers/colored pencils, post its, hand sanitizer and kleenex will be collected and shared throughout the year by all students so no need to put your name on them. You will be given labels with your name and subject to use for your folders and notebooks. We will label all folders/notebooks during the first few days of school.
You will each receive your own box of crayons, a bar eraser, a special homework/ home communication folder and home reading folder, as well as other folders and supplies that you will use during the year. Remember to bring in your supplies (from the Second Grade List) on the first day of school, but all supplies will be needed by Tuesday, Septemeber11th.

The first day of school is  Thursday, Sept 6th, which will be a full day. You will need to bring a lunch  and a healthy snack.  All snacks should be peanut and nut free! The cafeteria will be open so you may also purchase a lunch. For more information about school lunch click the "Parent and Student" heading on the top menu of the district's home page and go to "Food Services".

Finally, please choose your favorite "just right " book ( fiction or non-fiction) and bring it in to share with the class. We will want to get to know each other as readers. You will also want to be thinking over your summer happenings and activities to help you brainstorm some small moment stories for our first writing unit!

Enjoy the rest of your summer. I look forward to a wonderful year together.
See you soon!

Your Second Grade Teacher,
Mrs. Fitzgerald
