All About the Teacher

About the teacher picture
Welcome to my classroom.  I'm eager to make this a great year for your child.  This school year is the start of my twenty-sixth year teaching second grade at Wicoff Elementary School.

I received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  I continued my education at Rider University in Lawrenceville, New Jersey where I received my Masters Degree in Reading and Language Arts.  I hold both Reading Specialist and Teacher of Reading certificates.

I grew up surrounded by teachers.  My mother was a second grade teacher and has been retired from her job working in a middle school library for a few years.  My grandmothers and aunts on both sides of my family were also teachers.  I learned the value of education and the importance of hard work from my family.

I live in Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania.  My parents and my older brother also own homes in the same town.  We are a close family and we spend a lot of time together.

Warm weather is something that I love.  I spend my summers swimming in my big brother's pool and boating on the Delaware River with my parents.  I love visiting places where I can take photographs and I always have my camera with me.  I also really enjoy taking cruises and have planned one for each summer for the past nine years.  I am a huge Philadelphia fan and I love anything having to do with the city including its food, sports teams, museums, theaters, and events.  When the weather turns cold, I focus on training for my favorite "competitive" sport- shopping!

I am looking forward to getting to know you and your child.  I hope to work with you to make this a productive and memorable year.
