Music

Welcome to Wicoff Music!

My name is Rebecca Dias and I am very excited to be the vocal music teacher at Wicoff School! In addition to teaching general music, I also conduct the 3rd grade chorus. More information regarding the chorus can be found to the left. Sara Elmer instructs two of our kindergarten, and two of our second grade classes. Ms. Elmer's contact information can be found at the bottom of this page.

In your child's general music class, he or she will experience music in a variety of different ways. Together, we will learn basic music literacy skills including the foundations of melody and rhythm, healthy singing technique, folk dances and cultural music, and competency with classroom instruments. I aim to guide your child through a music class centered on musical play and exploration, all the while learning and growing.

3rd Grade Chorus meets once a week, either Tuesday morning or afternoon, depending on your child's classroom teacher. Chorus is a unique experience, in which each child has to collaborate with his or her peers towards a common goal of musical performance. Participation in the chorus program provides your child with an opportunity to sing in a variety of musical styles, in different languages, and to learn how to follow a musical score.

Please feel free to contact me at any time!

The characteristics of a good musician can be summarized as follows:

    1.  A well-trained ear
    2.  A well-trained intelligence
    3.  A well-trained heart
    4.  A well-trained hand.
